Sheriff Gary Ballweg began his law enforcement career with the United States Air Force in 1972.  In 1977  Sheriff Ballweg began working as a deputy sheriff with the Delta County Sheriff Department.

In 2003, Gary Ballweg was appointed to the office of Delta County Sheriff.

My pledge is to make sure that every citizen feels safe and secure when living or visiting in Delta County and to ensure that the department runs as  effectively and efficiently as possible on the resources allowed. I will see that victims of crimes are treated with dignity and understanding, while criminals are adequately punished for their actions."
