DELTA COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MEETING

     A Regular meeting of the Delta County Board of Commissioners was held this date, pursuant to the following call:

     A Regular Meeting of the Delta County Board of Commissioners is scheduled for Tuesday July 5, 2005, at 5:15 p.m. in the Circuit Courtroom of the Delta County Courthouse.

ROLL CALL

PRESENT:  Commissioners Bengry, Elegeert, Nelson, Ruohomaki, and      Schultz.

 

          The meeting was called to order at 5:15 p.m. in the Delta County Circuit Courtroom by Delta County Clerk, Nancy Kolich.

 

   V.     APPROVAL OF BOARD MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING       

          Moved by Commissioner Schultz and seconded by Commissioner Ruohomaki to approve the minutes of the June 21, 2005 meeting.  MOTION CARRIED.

  

         Moved by Commissioner Schultz and seconded by Commissioner Nelson that the Communications and Reports of Standing and Statutory Committees and the Reports of Special Committees and Others be received and placed on file.  MOTION CARRIED.

 

VII.    PUBLIC COMMENT ON AGENDA ITEMS

         

   X.  COMMITTEE REPORTS:

1. Building and Grounds Committee.

4.   Administrator’s Report

     Moved by Commissioner Bengry and seconded by Commissioner Schultz to receive the Administrator’s report and place on file.  MOTION CARRIED.

 

6. Computer Committee.

 

   X. GENERAL ORDERS OF BUSINESS

 

      A. UNFINISHED BUSINESS

 B. NEW BUSINESS

    1.  Payment of Bills.

         Moved by Commissioner Nelson and seconded by Commissioner Schultz to pay the bills in the amount of $873,341.63.  MOTION CARRIED on voice vote.

         

          2. MDOT Contract No. 2005-0329.

 

          Moved by Commissioner Bengry and seconded by Commissioner Nelson to authorize the Chairman to sign the MDOT Contract for purchasing Unicom radios, broadband wireless service and a crowd control belt system for the Airport for a total cost of $4,455, with a grant for $4,050 and the county share of $405.  MOTION CARRIED on voice vote.

 

          3. Delta County Recreation Plan.

 

          Moved by Commissioner Bengry and seconded by Commissioner Schultz to adopt the Delta County Recreation Plan and Resolution as presented.

 XI.  GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT

      Pete Mark, Wells Township, addressed the Board with his concerns regarding a Court of Appeals decision regarding a zoning issue.   

 

XII.         COMMISSIONERS CONCERNS

      Commissioner Nelson requested that the Broadcasting of the meetings be put on the Agenda for the next meeting.

 

      Commissioner Ruohomaki:  Concerned about the increase costs

to the County for electrical, water, building supplies, insurances and what this will do to our reserve funds.  These are costs that the Board has no control over.

 

       Commissioner Bengry moved and Commissioner Nelson seconded to put changing the time of the Board meeting to 7:30 p.m. on the agenda for the next meeting.  MOTION CARRIED.

  

  Commissioner Elegeert: The American Legion Post 301 will be honoring World War II living veterans on August 2nd.

 

 XIV.  ADJOURNMENT

 

     Moved by Commissioner Nelson and supported by Commissioner Schultz to adjourn at 5:58 p.m.
